There is a strong chance of Cyclone Mokha forming by noon on Wednesday

In the next 12 to 18 hours, i.e. before noon on Wednesday, May 10, the low pressure in the sea may turn into a cyclone, said Mustafa Kamal Palash, a PhD researcher on meteorology and climate at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

He gave this information about the weather forecast in a Facebook status on Tuesday, May 9, around 9 pm.

Meteorological researcher Mustafa Kamal Palash wrote in Stats, the US Navy-run Joint Typhoon Warning Center said in an 8pm bulletin that the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. It is likely to become a cyclonic storm in next 12 to 18 hours.

He also writes that when the wind speed is between 52 km and 61 km per hour, it is referred to as a deep depression. The deep depression is moving northwest at a speed of about 17 km per hour.

Besides, the latest weather forecast shows that Cyclone Mokha (Possible) has the highest probability of making landfall over Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
